Come to Kibeho, Rwanda with Immaculee

The Virgin Mary appeared to several visionaries in Rwanda during the eighties to warn about the genocide that would befall the country. This November, I'd like you to join me on a special pilgrimage to this holy and life-changing village.

Only a few years ago the tiny impoverished African village of Kibeho in my homeland of Rwanda was unknown to the world; but it was not unknown to God. Today, like Lourdes and Fatima, Kibeho is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites and center of sacred healing in all Christendom.

It began in the 1981 when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a teenage student named Alphonsine as the youngster served lunch to her classmates at Kibeho's all-girl Catholic high school. Alphonsine fell into a trance as the Blessed Mother appeared in a golden ball of light and began to speak in a soft, musical voice to the dumbstruck girl. Mary told Alphonsine that she wanted to be known as the "Mother of The Word," that she loved the simple purity of Alphonsine's faith and prayers, and that she desperately wanted all of her "earthly children" to pray to her with the same amount of love and devotion.

When the brief encounter ended and had Mary ascended back to heaven, Alphonsine collapsed onto the ground in a state of semiconscious as her schoolmates and teachers gathered around her and demanded to know what had happened. Alphonsine confided that she had seen spoken with the Virgin, that the Lady's beauty was so great it could not be described in words, and that the golden light radiating from the Blessed Mother was filled with the immeasurable love Mary felt for all the people in the world, whom she called her "earthly children."

In 2001, after a twenty-year investigation into the events of Kibeho, the Vatican formerly recognized the authenticity of the Virgin Mary's appearance to the original three visionaries; Alphonsine, Marie-Clare, and Anathalie. Kibeho has now become the only Vatican-approved Marian site on the African continent, placing the humble village on the same spiritual level with the very few officially recognized apparition sites in the world, such Lourdes and Fatima.

No one who has walked across the blessed ground of Kibeho or kneeled there to pray to the Virgin has left without feeling the Holy Mother's presence in their hearts and knowing that their spirit has forever been touched by Our Lady.

Our Lady of Kibeho is in Rwanda, her love illuminates Kibeho, the village she has blessed with her presence. She is there to inspire us, to guide us, and to love us. She is there listening to our prayers and, if we have faith, she there ready answer them.
